Biaxin

Description

Macrolide antibiotic, chemically related to erythromycin, active against Myco.

Uses

  • Respiratory infections (Mycoplasma pneumonia for one)
  • Skin and skin structure infections

Dosage

No confirmed dose for rats has yet been established, but the following are being tried out:

  • 2.5 mg to 10 mg/kg orally, twice daily
  • 1.5 to 5 mg/lb orally, twice daily

Side Effects

  • Loss of balance
  • Behavioural changes
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhoea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Itching
