Description

Used for the prevention and treatment of bacterial ailments. Slightly more broad-spectrum than Amoxicillin.

More or less the same as Amoxicillin except that the it is able to protect the penicillin structure from destruction by Staphylococci. This means that this combined medication can be used against staphylococcal infections (usually skin infections), whereas Amoxicillin cannot.

It binds irreversibly to susceptible beta-lactamase enzymes, preventing hydrolysis.

  • After surgery to prevent infection
  • Urine infections
  • Secondary infections
  • Staphylococcal infections

Dosage

6.25mg/lb orally, twice a day, for 10 to 14 days (7)

Warnings

Does NOT attack Mycoplasma directly, but will help stave off any secondary infections that come along with it, allowing the immune system to start fighting the Myco.
