Description

A broad spectrum systemic antibiotic with activity against many gram negative and gram positive organisms, it can also act as a bactericidal in higher concentrations.

Dosage

  • 25-90 mg/lb orally, three times daily References(7)

Side Effects

  • Anaemia
  • Diarrhoea
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Bone marrow suppression

Warnings

  • Do not give to pregnant/lactating rats
  • Do not use for trivial infections, can be highly toxic
  • Do not give salicylates (any of a group of analgesics, or painkilling drugs, that are derivatives of salicylic acid) or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs while administering this drug
